Alyssa Genereux, a libero with the Aurora Storm Volleyball Club, and coached by one of Canada’s best known coaches, Merv Mosher, is set to arrive at Lakehead University in the fall.
Genereux comes to Lakehead ready to continue her growth as a player and a strong academic student. She’s benefitted greatly from the direction from Coach Mosher, and has also been in the Ontario Club development system for her entire career, playing with multiple clubs. A native of Scarborough, Ontario, Alyssa is graduating from Francis Libermann Catholic High School.
“I can’t wait to get up to Lakehead University in the fall,” says Genereux. “I fell in love with Lakehead when I visited the campus while competing at the 2014 OFSAA volleyball championships [in Dryden]. I am really looking forward to furthering my education and athletic career at Lakehead.”
Lakehead’s Coach Chris Green comments, “It’s great when an athlete comes to you. I think it says a lot about what we have here at Lakehead; the fact that this young lady made a visit to our beautiful campus and saw the value and environment we can provide.”
Green continues, “On top of that, she plays for a coach that I have admired for years, and I know we have a player who can make a difference here. Alyssa has passion and is hungry to keep playing at a high level and develop into a CIS libero. We are looking forward to starting her training. She brings experience and passion for a position that demands it. It also allows us to add competition at that position which must make all better.”
