It’s a big weekend for Lakehead’s cross-country runners as they head down to Minneapolis to compete in the annual Roy Griak Invitational.
“The Roy Griak Invitational is always a great meet and a good test to start the season,” comments Coach Sigsworth.
CIS silver medalist Kevin Tree will be running along side his teammates to improve his overall finish from last year. Tree has been working very hard over the summer competing in two Olympic trials and only 8kms separate Kevin from his competitors in order to get higher up on the Griak podium.
“Kevin Tree is back to lead the men’s team and is looking to improve on his 3rd place overall finish from a year ago.” – Coach Sigsworth
As a team, the men are looking for a stronger placing finish than last years 7th (out of 37) overall. In the past, Lakehead men have placed very well at the Griak invitational and are motivated to only gain momentum from this upcoming weekend.
On the Women’s side, Kayla Gallo and Heather Maxfield will be running with 4th year Natasha Frank, who are determined to improve their 6th (out of 17) place finish from last year.
“The teams have been working hard over the summer and the first few weeks of school, and are ready to race.”
