The Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team closed out their three-game road trip with a 3-0 loss against the Toronto Varsity Blues Sunday afternoon.

The match was the Thunderwolves’ third game played in as many games.

“The team came out very strong today. We saw some major improvements from the night before,” said head coach Craig Barclay.

“Ultimately they got the better of us towards the end of every set but we pushed hard and made them uncomfortable for a large portion of the game.”

The Blues went 25-19, 25-16, 25-20 in the three sets played, finishing with 38 kills and 53 points. Toronto fifth-years Alina Dormann and Anna Licht led the Blues with 10 kills each.

The Thunderwolves finished the match with 25 total kills and 41 total points. Meghan Routier led the Thunderwolves with 8 kills, while Rebekah Hara made 16 digs and setter Lauren Follett finished the match with 22 assists.

“Overall it was a great team effort today. We saw contributions from everyone who stepped on the court,” said Barclay.

“This weekend was a great starting point with lots of positives to come. We are looking forward to our home opener next weekend.”

The Thunderwolves will host the York Lions in the C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse on Saturday, Nov. 2. The first serve is set for 7:00 pm.
