The Lakehead Thunderwolves track team is returning home to Thunder Bay after another weekend of beating personal bests and Lakehead records, this time at the Jim Daly Bisons Classic in Winnipeg, MB.
Freshman Amy Stieh finished first in the women’s 300m with a time of 38.99 seconds, beating her previous personal best and the Lakehead record. Stieh currently holds the fifth-best time in USports. Lakehead’s Tia Lampo finished right behind her in second place with a time of 40.90 seconds.
Niko Dowhos finished third in the men’s 60m with a time of 6.96 seconds, while Braedan Prochnicki recorded a personal best, finishing in fifth place with a time of 7.01 seconds.
The Thunderwolves men’s 4x200m finished in third place with a time of 1:32.57.
“Very solid weekend for us,” said head coach Kip Sigsworth.
“Huge run for Amy, not only breaking 40s for the first time but dipping under 39s as well. I was impressed with how the athletes competed and took advantage of the opportunity. Lots of progress this weekend. Final big training block of the season coming up.”
The Thunderwolves’ next meet will be the UWS Yellowjacket Open on Feb. 15th.
