The Thunderwolves women’s volleyball program is excited to announce that highly-experienced outside hitter Alysha Goundrey will be a part of the team this upcoming 2022-23 season. Goundrey is a transfer from the University of Winnipeg’s women’s volleyball team and brings a vast array of high performance experience at the varsity level. She is not only a stand out athlete but was an Academic All Canadian last year and will be continuing to build her academics at Lakehead in business marketing.
Charlotte Quotes:
“Having Alysha be a part of our squad this season is very exciting. She brings a lot of physicality and athleticism to the game that can be seen in her vertical jump and agility on defence. She is a well-rounded player who is familiar with USport level training and will be able to contribute in both the front and back row right out of the gate.”
Quotes from Alysha
“Becoming a part of this program just seemed as if it was meant to be. Although deciding to leave the University of Winnipeg was a tough decision, I knew that Lakehead had everything I was looking for. I chose to be a part of the program because Coach Charlotte and I seem to value the same things and her coaching philosophies excite me. Another reason I decided on Lakehead is because I wanted to find a team in need of an outside hitter so I can hopefully earn the opportunity to gain some playtime and make an impact of the court.”
“I am looking forward to the whole endeavour itself. New school, team, people, it is all very exciting. I am excited for the whole experience itself, I cannot wait to be coached by Coach Charlotte and play alongside a new group of girls who all seem fantastic and welcoming.”
