Lakehead’s women’s volleyball team is proud to announce the signing of 5’8 outside hitter Megan Nahachewsky of Virden, Manitoba. Megan is in her senior year at Virden Collegiate Institute, and is currently a member of the Cats Volleyball Club out of Brandon University. The Cats Volleyball Club won bronze at Manitoba provincial championships last year.
“We are really looking forward to having Megan join our program,” Thunderwolves head coach Craig Barclay says. “Megan is a very dedicated athlete who brings power and athleticism to our program.”
Megan has been a provincial all-star in Manitoba for the last three year, and is a graduating provincial all-star this year. She has played for Team Manitoba the past two years, and was MVP of her high-school team. Megan’s Virden Collegiate Institute high-school team took home bronze-medal finished over the last two years at Manitoba high-school championships, and they collected a silver-medal finish this year.
“She left a great impression on the coaching staff when she came to visit,” Barclay says, “and we know she is a great fit for our program in terms of character and leadership.”
Nahachewsky, who is also a lifeguard and enjoys teaching swimming lessons when she’s not performing in drama productions, will be undertaking a Bachelor of Nursing at Lakehead this Fall.
“I’m really excited to be coming to Lakehead,” Megan says.
