Lakehead’s track and field team travels to Toronto this weekend for the OUA championships. York University will host the Friday-Saturday competition.
“I am excited for the weekend,” Thunderwolves coach Kip Sigsworth says. “OUA’s is always a very competitive meet, and we look forward to seeing how we stack up.”
Lakehead will send eight athletes, four each from the men’s and women’s squads. The Thunderwolves making the trip and their respective events are:
Women:
Rebekkah Pyle — 3000m & 1500m
Tia Lampo — 300m & 600m
Hailee Morisseau — 3000m
Kayla Gallo — 3000m
Men:
Braedan Prochnicki — 60m & 300m
Derek Patterson — 3000m & 1500m
Colin Warwick — 1000m & 1500m
Will McDonough — 1000m
Pyle heads to Toronto ranked 12th in the USPORTS national ranking for the women’s 3000m.
“Things have been moving in the right direction with our athletes and I am confident we will have our best meet of the year this weekend,” Sigsworth says. “The hard work is done—now it is time to get tough and compete.”
