Track & field’s Pyle finishes 8th in USPORTS 3000m

Lakehead track & field runner Rebekkah Pyle competed in the women’s 3000m race at the USPORTS championships in Winnipeg today, finishing 8th. She completed the event in 10:07.00.

“I am proud of how Rebekkah competed today,” Thunderwolves coach Kip Sigsworth said. “She battled the entire way and put herself in a great position late in the race.”

Pyle established a strong pace early on, and was within the group leading the runners when pace increased at the halfway point. She held the 7th position going into the final three laps but struggled to close out the race with a commanding finish.

“She will be back at this meet,” Sigsworth said. “I am excited to see what she can do with a few more years of solid training.”
