Lakehead’s indoor track team was in Minneapolis over the weekend (Saturday) to compete at the U Minnesota Open.

Top performers of the day were Joe McDonough and Geoff Chambers-Bedard who placed 2nd and 3rd in the 600m run. Kenny Groop finished 4s behind GCB in 5th place.
Tyler White placed 4th in the 800m run in a time of 2:01.7, and placed second in the mile with a time of 4:29.01. Sebastian Diebel finished 4s behind White in the mile, placing 5th.
Mary Strain and Elora Beitz led the women’s Thunderwolf team, placing 11th and 12th in the 800m run.
“Overall it was a solid day with most athletes taking a step forward from their results from two weeks ago at LU Vs the World,” said coach Kip Sigsworth. “I was especially pleased with the way the athletes competed today. We now have two weeks before our next meet which is a great opportunity to build some fitness for the most important meets of the season.”
