The women’s volleyball team (1-1) continues in OUA league play this weekend with a doubleheader against the Brock Badgers (0-4), in their final home games before the end of the semester.
“This team is one of the most athletic and big groups that Brock has had under the direction of Dale Melnick. I know that their record does not reflect their talent,” noted coach Chris Green.
“I know they have played some tough teams in the beginning, and with youth the learning curve becomes a much more defined process. They’re just waiting to turn the corner,” added Green.
Lakehead will need its battery of young outside hitters, Leah Mousseau, Sara Potter and Kailan Robinson to keep their work ethic strong, along with Olivia Bowman and Catherine Klassen providing a solid presence on the right side. Setter Vanessa Masters will work to run her offence based on Lakehead’s passing.
“This weekend is a great test for us to play the same team twice and make adjustments from day to day. These are the final home games before we embark upon several two and three-game road trips, so we’ve got to make the most of our chance here in the Thunderdome.” – Chris Green
