After a long break, the Lakehead women’s volleyball team (3-4) is back in action this weekend in their first games of 2018. The Wolves will take on Guelph on Friday night followed by a double header against Waterloo on Saturday and Sunday.
Guelph (1-8) is a young and athletic team with a plethora of left side passers and hitters who each bring something unique to the game.
“Guelph will test us in every category this weekend in the 1st of 3 games. They are a team that defends well, blocks well and will be a real challenge.” – Coach Chris Green
Waterloo (3-6) brings a different set of challenges for the Thunderwolves in their diverse offense and tough serving. Claire Mackenzie ranks second in the OUA for most number of kills with 99.
“We know that lately Waterloo has played tight matches together and we usually match up well. We feel our serving will be a strong asset against both teams.”
In a short turnaround between games, Lakehead will be tested not only physically but also mentally. The Thunderwolves will be looking for consistency in its middle attack from Stacia Bates, Jessica Korchak and Christie Lowe with steady contributions from the right-side.
