The Lakehead women’s volleyball team is on the road to the University of Windsor this weekend to play their last regular season games of the 2016 calendar year..
Windsor (2-3) is a tough team who has both won and lost some very close games. They are currently ranked 5th in the OUA West.
Coach Green:
“Windsor is traditionally a tough opponent, and we will look to try to control their offensive weapons consisting of a strong Right side along with aggressive middles and left sides. We have to serve tough and read well, and in the end we must outwork our opponents. Windsor is a team that has a solid basic format and our newly formatted offence will have its hands full with this Windsor line up.”
Windsor’s Carleigh Bailey is ranked 1st in the league with the most number of digs per set.
“Our record IS NOT an indication of our team, however it is an indication of a team trying to make its identity using our players in a system to the max of their ability.”
“As a coach, I am so proud of the girls for last weekend against a big physical Western team. Our girls displayed their willingness to go toe to toe, and fear nothing. Although they came up short on the score board, they won the hearts of the staff and the many fans we had at Western, because they practiced what we preach, never let up and keep swinging for the fences, as it were.”
“LU Volleyball is strong and we look forward to this weekend as another testament to the fight and passion we have as a team.”
Kailan Robinson is still ranked in the OUA top 3 for the most number of kills in the league. The Thunderwolves will be looking to play some great sets this weekend and finish 2016 on a positive note.
The ‘Wolves will first take on the Lancers on Friday, November 25 at 7:00pm at the St. Denis Centre in Windsor.
