Rebekkah Pyle of Burlington, Ontario is the next recruit that will be joining the Thunderwolves Cross Country/Track Program in the fall of 2017. Rebekkah is an outstanding student from Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School and will be pursuing her Concurrent Education in Kinesiology at Lakehead.
Rebekkah is very new to competitive running. She did not compete in High School sports until her senior year. During her first ever cross country running season she made huge improvements, eventually qualifying for the OFSAA Championships and then going on to finish 34th at that race.
Coach Kip Sigsworth states, “It is great to have Rebekkah joining us next fall. She fit in well with the team during her visit and I am looking forward to working with her over the next several years. She is so new to the sport that it will be interesting to see how she develops as a runner. With her very limited background in the sport and quick development so far we are very excited to see what she can do with a few more years of consistent training.”
“I chose Lakehead because I felt wanted and at home there. The cross-country team members are all friendly and made me feel part of the team, even when I was just visiting them. I am looking forward to taking my Kinesiology classes at a place where I will not be just one person in a crowd of people.”
Rory Sneyd, Cross Country Running and Track Coach at Notre Dame Secondary School and former head coach cross country coach at McMaster University, says, “Rebekkah Pyle is a diamond in the rough and has the potential to be a very successful runner in the OUA and U SPORTS. Her work ethic is tremendous and she is extremely coachable. She is a gritty competitor who is not afraid to test her personal limits. I am really looking forward to working with her this spring as she hits the track and I so wish that I had more time to work with this dedicated athlete.”
