Thunderwolves XC Finish 12th at National Championships

HALIFAX, NS — Sophomore Jett Dobson ran 25:47 to lead the Lakehead University men’s cross country team in the 2022 USPORTS Cross-Country Championships on a stormy afternoon this past Saturday.

Dobson placed 39th overall in a deep-field of about 150 of Canada’s top qualifying runners. The Thunderwolves were 12th overall as a team, scoring 315 points on the day.

Senior Connor MacIntosh was 43rd on the eight-kilometer course in 25:53. Sophomore Leif Buxton ran 26:08, placing 59th. Rounding out Lakehead’s scorers were sophomore Andrew Lehman and Junior Will McDonough finishing 70th and 104th respectively.

The Thunderwolves Cross-Country team powered up the national rankings all season, placing 5th at the OUA Championships, qualifying them for the National Championships for the first time in over half a decade.
“We’re incredibly proud of what this group has achieved this year,” said Coach McDonough “the guys were focused all season and committed to putting in the work each week — we have a relatively young team, and we can’t wait to see what they can do in the future” McDonough continued.
