Women’s Wrestling Program

Step onto the mat and discover your strength with Women’s Wrestling – a welcoming, high-energy program designed for female students, community members and athletes of all levels. Whether you’re completely new to the sport or looking to re-engage in the sport our sessions focus on building solid fundamentals, improving athleticism, and developing the confidence to move our body and stay active.  

Led by experienced coaches, each practice blends technical instruction with drills, conditioning and play! You’ll learn core wrestling skills such as stance, movement, takedowns, and defense – while also improving strength, agility, and endurance.

More than just a sport, wrestling teaches resilience, mental toughness, and body confidence. Our program empowers women to challenge themselves, take pride in their abilities, and be part of a community that celebrates progress at every level.

No experience required – open to all female athletes ages 17 & up

Join us on the mat and experience the strength, skill, and camaraderie of women’s wrestling!

Location: Lakehead University Hangar (enter through Main Entrance of Wolf Den, not the Hangar Doors)

Program Dates & Times:  6:00 to 7:00 pm on Mondays, October 20th through until Monday, December 8th. 

Cost: $90 for full session. Drop-in available at $15/session.

Co-ed Adult Wrestling Program (Open Mat)

Sharpen your skills, test your game, and train alongside athletes from all combat sports with our Co-Ed Wrestling Open Mat – a flexible, high-energy training space geared towards grapplers, and wrestlers.

This isn’t a formal class – it’s an open training environment where you can drill, spar, and exchange techniques with a diverse group of athletes. Whether you’re looking to tighten up your takedown defense, wanting to improve stand-up control, or working on transitions to submissions, this open mat offers the chance to refine your style and adapt it to different combat situations.

Coaches are on hand to facilitate match-ups, provide technical pointers, and ensure a safe, respectful training environment. The focus is on high-quality reps, live situational work, and cross-discipline learning – so you leave every session sharper and more confident in your abilities.

Open to all experience levels ages 17 & up!
