Thunderwolves announce RBC Athletes of the Month
Thunder Bay, Ontario – Lakehead University has elected to issue a media release this month rather than having our regular media conference. Lakehead Athletics is pleased to announce its Thunderwolves RBC Athletes of the Month: Eric Gonzales, men’s basketball; Virginie Franks, women’s volleyball; Tiffany Reynolds, women’s basketball; Tyler Jette, men’s hockey; Hunter McLean, men’s track; Aly DaSilva, women’s track; Erin Clayton, women’s wrestling; Abraham Mfonpa’re Ntieniem, men’s wrestling; Aaron Warkentine, Nordic skiing.
Eric Gonzalez, Men’s Basketball
2nd year Electrical Engineering

Eric is the MBB athlete of the month for November. He consistently leads by example, providing great energy and effort in practice, workouts and on game days. Eric’s ability to impact winning with effort, rebounding and timely shooting have been huge for us over the course of the first semester.
Eric averages: 9.5 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 30 3P%

4th year Kinesiology

V is our top scorer, when we need a point in a big moment she is who we turn to. She has also worked incredibly hard and has become one of our key passers. Her drive, leadership and work ethic constantly make her teammates better around her.
16 kills against Western and was one of our top defenders on the weekend with 21 digs!
Tiffany Reynolds, Women’s Basketball
4th year, M.Sc. Kinesiology
Toronto, ON
Tiffany has been our team’s leader both on & off the court. She was absolutely amazing our last 4 games including an incredible 18 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists & 5 steals vs Western.
10.6 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 4.1 APG & 2 steals per game.
Tyler Jette, Men’s Hockey, 2nd year General Arts, Farmington, Minnesota
Tyler is Men’s Hockey ATOM for December – Tyler has been a very consistent player for us since the start of training Camp – leading by example during practice and games had led to his consistent play – has been a valuable player to us in all situations
Tyler leads the team in ice time with just over 22 minutes a game

Both Hunter and Aly have done a great job adapting to the life of a student-athlete in their first year and have been models of hard work each week at practices.
Hunter began his career as a Thunderwolf with a massive personal best in the 60m, good for 3rd all-time here at Lakehead (7.13).
Aly has been working hard every week since school started, which culminated in a 7 second personal best at our team’s season opening competition last weekend.
I’m very proud of the start both Hunter and Aly have had to their careers as Thunderwolves.

Erin placed second at the McMaster invitational and third at the York open. She has been ranked by USports in both 67 kg (3rd) and most recently at 63 kg (4th). Abraham placed second at McMaster and first at the York Open, with a 6-1 record.
Currently USports has ranked the women’s team is ranked 9th and the men’s team 5th in the country.

Aaron has been working extremely hard since returning to Thunder Bay this fall. He has shown a commitment to training and a keenness improve at every session. Since the year began, Aaron has been gaining momentum, both technically and from a fitness perspective and is showing signs of coming into form as the race season approaches. Always a leader by the example he sets, Aaron can be relied upon to exude professionalism and work ethic and has been an overwhelmingly positive part of our team this yea
