Personal Training

Are you looking to learn more about working out? Have a current routine that you want to revamp? Book a session with our personal trainer! We have a variety of packages available that can be booked. All of our personal training takes place right here in the CJ Sanders Fieldhouse.

All personal training packages can be purchased by any individual, however current members and LU students receive discounted pricing. Non-members have a charge of $5/person/visit for each package, in place of paying a day pass when using the facilities – this charge is reflected in the pricing chart below.

Offerings

Assessment: Just looking to see where you are at and what you might want to work on? Book a basic fitness assessment with us! This dynamic 30 minute assessment will help to assess your strengths and areas of improvement during movement specific patterns and identify your fitness level, and our trainer will work with you on goal setting and take into consideration your unique needs, desires, and lifestyle factors.

Starter package: Will help those who are in need of professional advice and guidance on the development of an existing basic fitness/strength training program. The start package consists of two one-hour sessions. The first session will include a 30 minute consultation and an introduction to some basic fitness concepts, and the second session will guide you through exercises that you can do on your own!

5 Sessions: Creating comfort in the fitness centre. You will be introduced to all movements, skills and requirements so that you can move forwards on your fitness path. This includes 5 one-hour sessions as well as a 30 minute assessment. 

10 Sessions:  In 10 sessions you are able to learn new movements that help you get started on the right path. To have a better understanding of program design, base movement patterns and more confidence moving forward! This includes 10 one-hour sessions as well as a 30 minute assessment. 

Assessment and Training Plan: Just looking for some guidance on putting together a workout routine? Book a 30 minute consultation/assessment with our personal training and receive a 3 week personalized training plan. Meet with a trainer one on one to assess your current routine and future exercise habits. Working together to design a thorough 3 week program you can use on your own that will help you work towards your targeted goals.

Fitness with Friends –  Train with a friend, colleague or partner for some added motivation! Each session will be fully tailored to you and your partner. The starter, 5, and 10 session are all available for partner trainings. 

BarBelles – Start the week of March 9!
A 4-week strength training program geared towards helping women build confidence in strength training. Focusing on all major lifts: Squat, bench press, dead lifts, overhead press and back rows. This class is designed to help build confidence through strength! There are two offerings for BarBelles, which are limited to 4 participants and require a minimum of 2 to run. Registration for BarBelles must be done in person at the Front Desk.

    • Tuesday from 7:00 am to 8:00 am (Mar 10 – Mar 31)
    • Thursday from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm (Mar 12 – Apr 2)

Pricing

    • $100 for students
    • $110 for non-students with memberships to the Fieldhouse
    • $125 for general public with no memberships.

MEET OUR TRAINER

Gillian Whybourne: is a certified Personal Training Specialist and Fitness Instructor Specialist. Her mission is to empower women by creating  an  inclusive environment focused on the uniqueness and individuality of each person, encouraging  them to grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Gillian also teaches our Empower Hour class that takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 pm.

PERSONAL TRAINING POLICIES

REGISTRATION

Registration for personal training today at luathletics.lakeheadu.ca! You will be contacted after registering to complete the necessary forms prior to your first assessment. In order to register, you will need to have an updated profile in our membership system. 

APPOINTMENTS

All appointments will be scheduled directly between the personal trainer and the client. Appointments for sessions must be made during regular facility hours and be agreed upon by both the personal trainer and the client.

CANCELLATION

Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance via written email to the personal trainer directly. 

PACKAGE EXPIRATIONS

5 & 10 Session Packages must be used within 6 months of purchase. 20 Session Packages must be used with one year of purchase. 

REFUNDS

Refunds will only be issued due to medical concerns resulting in the inability to participate in personal training. Unused sessions after expiry are not eligible for refund.

Sports Medicine Clinic

At the Lakehead University Sports Medicine Clinic, we provide high quality treatment aimed at restoring your mobility issues while reducing pain levels
